Executive Producer/Founder Chuck Myers
Chuck Myers, Executive Producer, Myers Video Productions, Sportfishing Television Productions When I started working as a Production Assistant for Hometown Productions, I had no idea that video would become my life's passion. I began my career by working on commercials for a local cable station. I worked my way up the ladder and became Assistant Director of the company. This position opened the doors to other opportunities, including being part of the South Bay Producers Guild, where my efforts won me the Producer of the Year Award for Programming Excellence. My career and reputation were on the rise, and Michael Fowlkes, founder of Michael Fowlkes Productions, was taking notice. In 2003, I was asked to join Fowlkes to work on "Inside Sportfishing," a show that airs on Fox West Sports. This was an ideal match for Me since it combined my love of video my enthusiasm for fishing. "Working on Inside Sportfishing I learned more about video production and editing. Michael was instrumental in my growth as an editor. Plus, it was great learning from such a master, Michael has earned over 14 Telly Awards!" . Still, I felt I wanted to do more, "I had always wanted to be self-employed but hesitated to make a move. It was actually through Michael's encouragement that I decided to take the leap and started Myers Video Productions." and www.sportfishingontv.com In 2005, I decided to go on a spur of the moment fishing trip to Alaska with one of my longtime fishing buddy - Even though the goal of the excursion was purely recreational, out of habit I brought along a camera "We shot salmon sharks and it was absolutely spectacular. To my knowledge, this had never been done before," . "When I got home from the trip I was itching to edit the raw footage, I had hours and hours of tape and needed an editing system that would be user-friendly with top-of-the-line realtime effects, but I couldn't afford a mega dollar editing system." So I cut the show on a Matrox RT-2000 that was like using a liner editing system back in the 60's from todays editing system. The end result of this impromptu fishing trip was a 3-part series and a 1-hour special, which I entered for the 26th Annual Telly Awards. To my delight, I won the award for the 2005 sporting shows category. This turned into Sportfishing Television Show, which airs weekly on Time Warner Cable. This year for the 27th Annual Telly Awards I sent 3 video's in and all 3 video's won! 1 Silver and 2 Bronze for the show.
